About Dr. Mason
I have always been fascinated by both the science and art of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. The reason I decided at an early age to become a surgeon began when I was a high school student growing up in the small West Texas town of Plainview. Plainview is a town known more for growing cotton than producing doctors. Rodeo is popular in Plainview and the surrounding towns, and I began riding bulls as a high school sport. After some success, I was awarded a bullriding scholarship to college. My most significant injury from bullriding was a fracture—dislocation of my lower jaw which required an operation to repair. I became very interested in the surgical procedure required to reconstruct my lower jaw as well as how the surgeon and his staff treated me with kindness and compassion throughout my recovery. Through this experience, I realized that medicine was my calling. I have always remembered the importance of both physical health as well as emotional well-being, and I try to treat everyone with respect and kindness without comprising medical care. I truly hope that you will experience this as a patient at Southlake Plastic Surgery.
